Advantages and main performances of FRP sculptures


FRP production process: Before the finished product is made, the product to be made is first made of a specific clay material. After the clay draft is completed, a plaster outer mold is made, and then FRP (a combination of resin and glass cloth) is brushed on the inside of the outer mold. After it is completely dry, the outer mold is opened, and after the mold closing process, the finished FRP sculpture is obtained. FRP sculpture is a type of finished sculpture. It has the characteristics of light weight, corrosion resistance and relatively low cost. FRP is also called FRP, scientifically known as fiber reinforced plastic, and is customarily called FRP in China. It is a composite material composed of synthetic resin as the matrix material and glass fiber and its products as the reinforcing material.



Advantages of FRP


Lightweight and high strength


The relative density is between 1.5 and 2.0, which is only 1/4 to 1/5 of carbon steel, but the tensile strength is close to or even exceeds that of carbon steel, and the specific strength can be compared with high-grade alloy steel. Therefore, it has excellent results in aviation, rockets, spacecraft, high-pressure vessels and other products that need to reduce their own weight. The tensile, bending and compressive strengths of some epoxy FRPs can reach more than 400Mpa. The density, strength and specific strength of some materials are shown in Table 1-1.


Good corrosion resistance


FRP is a good corrosion-resistant material with good resistance to the atmosphere, water and general concentrations of acids, alkalis, salts, and various oils and solvents. It has been applied to various aspects of chemical corrosion protection and is replacing carbon steel, stainless steel, wood, non-ferrous metals, etc.


Good electrical properties


It is an excellent insulating material used to make insulators. It can still protect good dielectric properties under high frequencies. It has good microwave transmittance and has been widely used in radar antenna covers.



Good thermal performance


FRP has low thermal conductivity, which is 1.25~1.67kJ/(m·h·K) at room temperature, only 1/100~1/1000 of metal, and is an excellent thermal insulation material. Under instantaneous ultra-high temperature conditions, it is an ideal thermal protection and ablation-resistant material, which can protect spacecraft from high-speed airflow above 2000℃.

① According to needs, various structural products can be flexibly designed to meet the use requirements, so that the product has good integrity.


② Materials can be fully selected to meet the performance of the product, such as: corrosion-resistant, instantaneous high temperature-resistant, products with particularly high strength in a certain direction, good dielectric properties, etc.

① The molding process can be flexibly selected according to the shape, technical requirements, purpose and quantity of the product.


② The process is simple, can be molded in one time, and the economic effect is outstanding, especially for products with complex shapes and small quantities that are not easy to mold, which highlights its process superiority.
